Without a doubt, the best way to learn how to tie knots.

Have you ever fumbled around with a rope, nervously trying to tie some sort of knot that you hope will hold? "Knot Time" is meant to serve as both a learning tool and a field guide for tying knots. Each of the knots has a brief description and an instructional video to walk you through how to tie the knot. The videos make it very easy for you to actually see how the knot is tied – much better than some “connect the dots” kind of pictures. Knots are grouped into five categories: general, boating, mountaineering, fishing, and scouting. The general category contains 11 basic knots that can be used in a variety of situations. There is no simpler way to improve your perceived outdoorsmanship (or outdoorswomanship).

"Knot Time" will have you tying the following 33 knots: alpine butterfly, anchor bend, arbor knot, bowline, bowline on a bight, cleat hitch, clove hitch, diagonal lashing, double fishermans bend, double overhand stopper knot, double surgeons knot, dropper loop, figure 8, figure 8 with a follow through, larks head, monkeys fist, nail knot, one handed bowline, overhand knot, Prusik knot, rolling hitch, round turn and two half hitches, sheepshank, sheer lashing, sheet bend, square knot, square lashing, surgeons loop, timber hitch, Trilene knot, tripod lashing, truckers hitch, and water knot. More to come...

DISCLAIMER: Participating in activities that involve ropes is potentially dangerous. The quality of your knots and the ropes themselves should be properly evaluated before attempting any activity where danger is involved. Pros and cons of Knot Time app for iPhone and iPad

Knot Time app good for

Well i think, this version of Knot Time is nice. The graphics, the thumbnales and much more is exiting and lokks even better. Just the "play video" button is ugly. Just think of an apple-like play-button. :)
It is a beatiful and simple app for any user to learn from. Videos are much easier than most pictures. I hope to see new knots on here as frequently as possible. Great app!
I cant believe that there is not a list if positve reviews here. This program is perfect. Please keep the updates comin. Update: The recent addition of lashings is exellent. Love to see ya do the "Turks Head". Not a practical knot but a cool one for Scouts.
Now I can cheat and look like a pro when Im out on the boat ! Very handy. One feature that would be great, is if you could watch in slow motion as well. Maybe a search function, based off the text description for each knot. But even without any enhancements, this is a very well done app, crisp video, clear audio, good job encoding it. Excellent - well done !
I found myself using the free version of the app all of the time so I figured I should pony up for the full version. Real easy to follow along and you can pause and scrub for some of the dificult knots. the only way to improve is to get a better audio on the desciption. well worth the price!
This app is well done, very helpful and on the cutting edge for iPhone apps.

Some bad moments

Great concept, but none of the videos that demonstrate how to tie knots will display on my iPhone (brand new).
Well it didnt comp. with my ipod and i have the latest touch update so i just took my money. O well
Very good videos on how to actually tie knots but new user interface is horrendous. Difficult to search for knots, cant mark favorite knots. Unless UI changes its about time to replace Knot Time.
Lots of knotts, but they dont tell you what you could fisically tie them to. They dont even show a little pole to where you could apply the knotts to. Dissappointing.
This was a really great app but the video clips that show how to tie the knots will not work on my new iPhone 6 plus. The app freezes instead.
I have a iPhone 6+ and upgraded to the full product because the lite version didnt work. Now Ive wasted my money and want a refund.
